Not as confusing as it seems

You may be new to the site, so I'll give you a quick lesson. Dan Plus Add 101, if you will.

Who am I?

I'm Daniel Hough, a Computer Science student from the UK. In 2006 I wrote a song about my favourite forum at the time, the PC Gamer Forum and released it free there. It was a hit on the forums, so I started writing more songs, releasing them all for free. Eventually, I released my first album, and now I'm working on my second, which will be released in early to mid 2008.

Ethic

Here's the deal: I make all of my available music downloadable for free on the Interwebs, you distribute it to your friends, they listen and enjoy, and everyone's happy. Here's a totally nonsense equation that can help me explain what I mean:

You see, I'm not a big fan of DRM and I really like it when artists let me choose how much I'm going to pay for their music, or at least let me listen before deciding "I'd like to fund their effort to make more music like this." Plus, if I do like a song, I'm going to want to email my friend with the song attached in a format they can play the song in, saying "Dude, this song is the best thing since the Internet" and not break any sort of overly-restrictive copyright law. So, I'm practicing what I preach and not only allowing you to download and distrubute my music to people but encouraging you to. So go on, do it. Download this song and send it to the first person you see on your IM contact list and you would be doing me a huge favour. Thanks =)

Do what you want

I release my music under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 2.0 UK: England & Wales Licence, which is represented by this:

Simply put, this means that I can:

And you can:

Which in my opinion means good times for all, because you can do remixes, covers, crazy karaoke versions or make videos for my songs, and that's awesome! If you do, please let me know because I'm already stoked about it.
